This is a sponsored post with ImprovBoston. All opinions, as always are my own.
My daughter and I are made for the stage. We love to dance and have fun and make people laugh. And we have a flair for the dramatic. I’m really excited to watch my daughter find her way through theatre and the performing arts, so we are super excited she’ll be spending a week with the awesome folks at ImprovBoston in Cambridge
With another school year coming to an end, I find myself trying to carefully piece together my daughter’s summer plans. Trying to balance her desires with down time and plenty of time outside is no easy task. Now that she is 11 and entering middle school in the fall (GULP) the summer camps that she’s attended in the past don’t quite make the cut anymore. Enter ImprovBoston’s Summer Comedy Clinics!
The week long comedy clinics offered all summer long for ages 8-17 provide kids with life-long skills they can start using immediately. Working with professional instructors and improvisational comedians, kids will have plenty of LOLZ while also building their confidence and learning about conflict resolution and how to communicate effectively. During the week attendees can expect a ton of fun, theater games, performances, improv exercises and more.
Why Improv? Great question! By using ImprovBoston’s “5 pillars” – Support, Trust, Risk-Taking, Confidence and Fun the comedy clinics provides the opportunity to immerse yourself in the creative in a supportive environment. Whether your kiddo is ready for their big break or curious about theater you can be sure fun will be had by all. No prior experience is necessary to attend!
Sessions run Monday – Friday from 10am – 3pm in Central Square, Cambridge and kids are split up by age groups: 8-10, 11-13 and 14-17. Additionally, extended care is available starting at 9am in the mornings and until 4pm in the afternoons. The week concludes with a performance on Friday so you can see what they’ve covered in the week. Since each session is different you can choose to sign up for one week or all of them! Financial aid may be available.
My kiddo hasn’t stopped talking about her excitement for the Comedy Clinic she’s enrolled in this August. If you are still looking for activities, be sure to register for a week (or more!) at ImprovBoston!
