Big News: Xfinity and Netflix Integration!

This is a sponsored post in collaboration with Comcast New England. I received an Amazon gift card. All opinions, as always, are my own.

comcast, netflix, xfinity

I have a confession. I am dramatic-movie-obsessed, especially now that I’m pregnant. I just watched Into The Woods and Selma – amazing! I spent a considerable amount of time switching between my Comcast Xfinity and Netflix apps trying to find the right movie or show to engage me for a couple of hours. I have another confession. Switching between apps is exhausting. With baby #2 making his/her arrival in just a few months I’m on a journey to live a more minimalist life. This will hopefully mean a more zen home with less stuff and that goes for technology as well. Less is more as far as I’m concerned!

Earlier this fall I wrote a post about how Comcast, the nation’s largest video, high-speed and Internet and phone provider, is working tirelessly to make their customers experiences user friendly, convenient and seamless. And their newest announcement is a great addition to their goal. Want a more seamless viewing experience? Tired of switching between remotes (when you can find them)? Get excited because Comcast Xfinity and Netflix are now BFFs!

Comcast Xfinity and Netflix sitting in a tree…..why is this collaboration so amazing? “We are excited to add Netflix to X1 and give our customers access to all the content they love in a way that has never been done before” said Neil Smith, Chief Executive Officer, Comcast Cable. This news is incredibly exciting for me, a loyal Comcast Xfinity and Netflix customer because it means I have even more options in one place than ever, which makes me very happy.

Available on Xfinity On Demand, X1 Voice Remote or Netflix app customers can seamlessly browse an extensive catalog of shows and movies alongside live and on demand programming. During the week leading up to Halloween I indulged in the Halloween series on Xfinity live and it was awesome! I always seem to move towards On Demand and the live option offers another layer of options sure to fulfill whatever content you’re looking for.

If you are an existing Netflix customer it’s super easy to integrate the two apps. Simply sign-in Netflix service on X1 for the first time. Don’t have Netflix yet? I have three amazing reasons to join:

My favorite shows EVAH!

So to recap – this integration is AMAZING! Why?

  1. If you have a X1 voice remote simply say (or sing) “Netflix” in your remote to launch the Netflix app
  2. Search for your favorite shows, actors or movies across both Xfinity and Netflix (I’ve been on a Rachel Weisz kick and recently found this feature super amazing)
  3. Don’t get left out while your friends watch current shows. Easily watch the new shows from the first season all in one place
  4. Browse without switching apps

Signing up for Netflix is super easy and additionally Netflix customers can choose to add their Netflix service added to their existing Comcast bill. E-A-S-Y.

In the words of my soul sister Gwen Stefani…..

NuvoTV Presents the Model Latina Season 5 Premiere!

Now that Scandal is over (can you say cliffhanger season finale?!) I’ve been trying to find another TV show to tune into. Enter Model Latina! Model Latina is like America’s Next Top Model but full of beautiful sexy Latinas!!! Many people don’t know that I’m half Latina!! Yep, my father is from Colombia…but no one believes me because I don’t speak Spanish. Whomp Whomp. I love seeing people of color featured in television and film, and that’s why I’m psyched about season 5 of Model Latina on NuvoTV!

This season of Model Latina, which is filmed in South Beach (hot!) promises to be the most exciting season yet combining beaches, fashion, and Latin flair (hot, hot, hot!). For those looking for a new show to follow, look no further!

The Rundown: NuvoTV’s hit competition reality show is back and better than ever with its fifth exciting season! Tune in to the May 28 premiere of Model Latina South Beach and meet the 10 beautiful new Latinas who are on a quest to kick their competition off the runway as they compete for a huge cash prize and modeling contract! This time, there are hot new celebrity judges, more intense challenges – one takes place underwater! – and the sexy factor is through the roof! Prepare to break a sweat! Click HERE for a sneak peak video!

This isn’t your ordinary reality show, though I’m assuming it’ll have some moments of serious drama! But at the heart of this show is promoting and supporting lovely Latinas and diversifying the media. Yes and yes! I’ll be channeling my inner svelte model as I channel into this new hot-hot-hot season!
Be sure to tune into the new season Monday May 28th! You can follow Model Latina on Facebook and Twitter and Meet The Cast

IMAGE-IMAGE-IMAGE 2

In part 1 of IMAGE-IMAGE-IMAGE I used the term everyday woman freely  without describing what my definition is.
An everyday woman is:
·         Of any race, ethnicity, or culture
·         Working, underpaid, unemployed
·         A mother, aunt, or daughter
·         Not necessarily content with her body image
·         Self-conscious
·         On average about 140 pounds
Where did our negative body image come from? Our mothers? Our friends? Media? While media takes the cake with persuading American women that beauty means to be thin, your culture also plays a part. Latin women are known to be curvaceous as well as confident. Latin men love their full figured Latino women. So, should all American’s relocate to Latin communities or countries? I think not.
Like the new Lifetime show,  How to Look Good Naked, we as a society need to redefine what beauty truly is and remember that true beauty comes from within. We need to teach ourselves to self-love rather than self-loathe. While bypass surgery and crash diets may seem appealing, it won’t change your mind or your heart.
American women, what is so wrong with accepting your bodies?
I challenge you. Whether you are 15 or 55, black, yellow, or pea green. I challenge you to love every part of yourself. If you wake up in the morning and don’t like what you see in the morning like me, change what you see. Take out that red lipstick you were always too shy to wear and use it for once. Write on your mirror ‘I AM BEAUTIFUL!’ Yes, women for once, do something for you. And post this saying all around your house. If your husband asks what you’re doing, tell him, I’m beautiful and clearly you don’t tell me enough! And if you’re single like me, it’ll be that added umph you need when you’re feeling down.

Research what works well with your body type. Don’t know your body type? Do a little google search and I think you’ll be able too. Find out if darker jeans work best or a wrap dress. Trust me, when you find something that works with what you’re working with, it’s magic and it’ll boost that inner self-confidence. Once you’ve found that perfect outfit, go get your hair down, nothing crazy though. And when you get back in that mirror, get out that lipstick and write on the mirror then put a little on.

And when life has you down remember the following:

LAUGH! Hahaha. Remembering you have a sense of humor is important.

Eat healthier. Yes, fast food seems oh so convenient, but it also isn’t the best for your health. Snack smart and sensibly. Throw a bag of mixed nuts in your purse or snag a few of those cheerios!

Get Moving! Yes exercise people! Instead of driving, walk to where you have to go. Take the stairs instead of elevator. Trust me; your thighs will thank me.

Express Yourself. Bottling up your emotions is a no-no. Let it out. Not comfortable talking to someone? Start a journal, or draw what you’re feeling.

Think Positive. If you think today’s going to be a good day and it’ll be a good day. Think it’s going to be a bad day and it’ll be a bad thing. The mind is a powerful thing.

It’s crazy how small changes can make you feel so much better.

So, self-conscious American women, up for the challenge?
