Comcast Announces Xfinity xFi: Your Custom Home Wi-Fi Experience

Between my daughter, partner and I we have 11 devices in our home that are connected to WiFi! From catching up on the new season of Orange Is The New Black, to playing white noise for the baby to reading books on the kindle, we are a connected family and have been for awhile. With Xfinity xFi you have a digital dashboard to manage your home network, passwords, troubleshoot and (my favorite) create parental controls. No sneaking phones under the table at dinner time to watch cat videos! You can choose to pause Wi-Fi service during dinner or whenever you want!

How does it all work? A mobile app of course! And also on the web and though the X1 voice remote. Setup is a breeze as well. Current customers can click here or choose to download the xFi app which is available for iOs and Android users. Annnnd….there is no extra charge!

I (if you can’t already tell) love love Xfinity xFi! The parental controls are what I love most followed by being able to pause Wi-Fi whenever I want! Or when the family goes out and gets ice cream and brings it home to eat in front of you, and they forget you are dairy free. Wi-Fi paused, family!

Big News: Xfinity and Netflix Integration!

I have a confession. I am dramatic-movie-obsessed, especially now that I’m pregnant. I just watched Into The Woods and Selma – amazing! I spent a considerable amount of time switching between my Comcast Xfinity and Netflix apps trying to find the right movie or show to engage me for a couple of hours. I have another confession. Switching between apps is exhausting. With baby #2 making his/her arrival in just a few months I’m on a journey to live a more minimalist life. Comcast Xfinity and Netflix sitting in a tree…..why is this collaboration so amazing? “We are excited to add Netflix to X1 and give our customers access to all the content they love in a way that has never been done before” said Neil Smith, Chief Executive Officer, Comcast Cable. This news is incredibly exciting for me, a loyal Comcast Xfinity and Netflix customer because it means I have even more options in one place than ever, which makes me very happy.

Available on Xfinity On Demand, X1 Voice Remote or Netflix app customers can seamlessly browse an extensive catalog of shows and movies alongside live and on demand programming. During the week leading up to Halloween I indulged in the Halloween series on Xfinity live and it was awesome! I always seem to move towards On Demand and the live option offers another layer of options sure to fulfill whatever content you’re looking for.

If you are an existing Netflix customer it’s super easy to integrate the two apps. Simply sign-in Netflix service on X1 for the first time. Don’t have Netflix yet? I have three amazing reasons to join:

So to recap – this integration is AMAZING! Why?

  1. If you have a X1 voice remote simply say (or sing) “Netflix” in your remote to launch the Netflix app
  2. Search for your favorite shows, actors or movies across both Xfinity and Netflix (I’ve been on a Rachel Weisz kick and recently found this feature super amazing)
  3. Don’t get left out while your friends watch current shows. Easily watch the new shows from the first season all in one place
  4. Browse without switching apps

Signing up for Netflix is super easy and additionally Netflix customers can choose to add their Netflix service added to their existing Comcast bill. E-A-S-Y.
